About Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Rijeka
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is part of University of Rijeka, Croatia. The mission of the Faculty is to provide excellence in education to students in pursuit of bachelors, masters and PhD degrees in the fields of social sciences and humanities. It is comprised of ten departments ranging from language departments and psychology to cultural studies and philosophy. It is highly engaged in continuous Erasmus+ cooperation with other European universities and is dedicated to international cooperation through EU funded scientific projects.
In the academic year 2005/2006, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences introduced comprehensive changes in line with the objectives defined by the Bologna Declaration and adopted the three cycles of higher education qualification and the ECTS system.
The faculty also provides space and logistics for five centers and schools dedicated to scientific research and is located on a newly established campus that is closely tied to several business start-ups and initiatives.
The role of Humanities Hub that’s going to be established as a part of the AHEH project is connected to the position of the faculty as a whole and specifically Department of Cultural Studies in connecting students from the fields of cultural studies, management and creative industries with the cultural and managerial actors on local, regional and international level. It will do so by connecting and empowering cooperation with local business initiatives, experts and valuable NGO’s whilst continuing its striving towards providing students with important theoretical knowledge regarding economic, political, social and cultural processes in relation to working and creating in contemporary globalized but also highly delicate and fragile landscape.
