Maria Maleta, a Portuguese brand of luggage and accessory design launched a new line dedicated to sustainability. This collection is made with four vegan products and with biodegradable and recyclable textiles. Incubated at UPTEC – Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto, Maria Maleta presents the No Season collection with 7 models created with sustainable and durable materials.
Created in 2013, Maria Maleta has, since then, used vegetable tanning skin and Bio leather, whose treatment adds biodegradable characteristics of them. Maria Maleta’s new collection also uses recycled materials, such as textiles from polyester and plastic, recycled post-consumer (PES), 100% biodegradable synthetic aniline, waterproof and 100% recyclable textile.
The integration of these new materials aims to give products a sustainable mission. “These are new features introduced in this collection, which show the concept of a circular economy that the brand has been defending. We believe that one of the most important factors in the sustainable economy is the durability of the products, guaranteed by the quality of the skin used.”, says Daniela Marques, co-founder of Maria Maleta.
Founded by Ana Neto and Daniela Marques, the brand produces exclusively in Portugal. Maria Maleta develops backpacks, wallets and bags designed for “women who have two sides personified”, that can be used in various ways.
This annual collection is also timeless. We aim to meet the needs of the demands of the modern era and the transparent, informed and conscious consumption.” reinforces Daniela.
Apologist of conscious and informed consumption, the brand created the “Reuse” program, that gives to the users the possibility to recycle an old “Maria” – that is, a suitcase – or even receive a voucher for returning the product for recycling.
Prices for bags and accessories in the new collection range from 73.00 to 390.00 euros and can be found at Maria Maleta’s online store.
